Let's say someone was rude to you at work. Instead of assuming they are just
mean or don't like you, try to think of other reasons they might be in a bad mood.
These reasons could include:
Maybe a close family member is very ill,
Maybe they didn't sleep well,
Maybe they are uncomfortable talking when there's a lot of people around.
There are lots of reasons people can be rude to you, and no it's not nice, but people do have a hard time
separating their behavior and their emotions. It can be helpful to think about other perspectives so that we don't focus on the sole idea that this person is mean or doesn't
like you.
Let's say someone has an opinion that you don't agree with at all and you think they should have the same opinion as you. There are a lot of reasons people form the opinions that they have.
A lot of it is based on their life experiences which are probably very different from yours.
They may have experienced something traumatic that left them with this opinion.
They may have experienced something important that left them with that opinion.
It can be helpful to remember that opinions are just that: opinions.
They are not facts.
