Getting started ‐ I have a hard time getting started on homework
- Find a place you are comfortable completing homework with minimal or no distractions.
- Try to make a list of things to accomplish and check them off as you complete them.
- The list could include steps to complete tasks, it does not have to be the whole task, such as “Write my entire essay.”
- Instead, it could be easier to start with completing some steps of the task, such as:
“Today I will:”
- “Read 10 pages from Chapter 1,”
- “Write 5 thoughts I had about the chapter,”
- “And make an outline with keywords I will use in my paper.”
-
If you are working on a paper, start with a list of ideas or topics you think you will cover and write those down.
- These do not need to be complete sentences at this point.
- It's just to get you started in the writing process.
